The Bahia Mar Yachting Center is homeport
for some of the most prestigious names in
the yachting world.
As
part of the multi million dollar renovation
of the existing marina, Bahia Mar Yacht Center
elected to upgrade the existing fueling facility.
The design team had the vision and knowledge
to engineer a fueling system that would place
Bahia Mar as the #1 Marina fuel facilities
in not just in Florida, but the Southeast
United States. Our client desired the capability
to fuel Mega Yachts at +100gpm at (1)one fueling
positions and (6) six additional fueling positions
with +35 gpm. The design team met with our
installation staff and designed a state of
the art system with the latest technology,
equipment, and compliance standards, that
could exceed expectations and be installed
and operational in (2) two months. Communication
and cooperation with the engineering staff
at Bellingham Marine enabled the `team to
design custom materials that would be in place
at the required times the new concrete floating
fuel dock was installed.

The design required the retrofit of the existing
(1) one 8,000 gallons diesel and (1) one split
8000 diesel/gasoline storage tank. The diesel
tank is to be equipped with 2-4hp Fe Petro submersible
pumping units, fuel piping manifold and siphon
system will be installed at the tank piping
sumps to give the client 12,000 gallons of diesel
storage.
The
installation of (1) one Environ flexible UV
protected 3” coaxial fuel lines for
diesel, and (1) one Environ flexible UV protected
2”coaxial fuel line for gasoline were
placed in protected trenches in the tropical
landscape. Fuel lines are is installed using
Akenstrut on gangways and within 6’’
piping chases in the floating concrete fuel
dock. All transition piping is installed with
M.Carder stainless steel breakaways and ball
valves. A Veeder Root compliance system will
perform the monitoring of piping sumps, tank
gauging, and interstitial monitoring. Diesel
Fuel is filtered by an inline Cimtek filtering
vessel. Fuel dispensing was accomplished by
the installation of (7) seven Pump Measure
Control (PMC) Custom Marine Fuel house dispensers
with internal stainless steel electric reels
with electronic readout. This system has enabled
Bahia Mar to exceed 100gpm at (1) one, 75gpm
at (2) two, and 35gpm at (2) two additional
designated fueling points.
