Nestled
within the Hollywood Lakes community, the
Marina is a very short distance from the Hollywood/Ft.
Lauderdale International airport, Hollywood
Beach and Broadwalk, Downtown Hollywood, stores,
shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, and
other attractions.
In
2001, the Marina was awarded the “Clean
Marina” certification by the State of
Florida (the first marina to be awarded this
certification in SE Florida). The Marina is
also the recipient of a “Waterway Cleanup
2000” award from the Marine Industries
Association of South Florida. Petroleum Marine
Consultants, LLC was asked to provide to the
city guidelines and specification for a new
marina fuel facility. The City of Hollywood
followed these guidelines as the required
specification in their request for bid.
When
the project was bid to numerous local contractors,
Petroleum Marine, LLC was the only contractor
willing to meet the strict guidelines set
forth by the town. Price was also an important
issue, but was not the ultimate reason PMC,LLC
was awarded the project, the city town found
that dealing with a small contractor, with
our experience and knowledge in this specialized
field, alleviated all worries for the client.
The
proper closure of the existing 2-10,000 UST’s
and piping was the first phase of the new
fuel facility. The installation of two (2)
10,000 gallon Eultron double wall storage
tank systems provides an abundance of storage
with a financial savings to the client. The
tanks hold 10,000 gallons of diesel, and 10,000
gallons gasoline. FePetro2hp submersible pumps
were installed in each fuel storage tank with
mechanical leak detectors. Environ 2”
Geo Flex-M pipe was chosen to supply the fuel
to our dispensing system. Our design team
had the vision and knowledge to engineer a
fueling system that would include four (4)
fueling positions with two diesel positions
with +35 gpm and two gasoline with + 15 gpm.
Two (2) PMC SF-46/47-S1 marine stainless steel
dual product dispenser with Hannay stainless
steel 50 ft hose reels within stainless steel
enclosures were chosen for fuel delivery.
A
Pneumicator System with a weather proof console
will handle all compliance monitoring. The
client also requested that compliance readings
could be evaluated off site. The Pneumercator
Total Compliance System meet these requirements.
As
with all our projects; working with a small
full service marine fuel contractor enabled
the client to influence decisions, reduce
construction costs, and meet all required
deadlines; for a city owned marine fuel facility
that sets the standard.
